Norma & Bill, 50th Reunion
By Will Berry
"Hi, Norma, remember me? Bill?"
"Well, Bill....of course. I haven't thought about you since we got out of
high school. In fact, I didn't think too much about you in high school.
Weren't you the kid who was in Biology class for 4 years? Some sort of
ongoing lab experiment, weren't you?"
"Yes, they held me over for 2 years."
"Well, Bill....excuse me, let me turn to my reunion guide here...oh yes,
here it is. 'Say (fill in the blanks) say, (Bill) what have you been doing
all of these years?'"
"I don't remember except that I made a lot of money for other people. Right
now I'm working on a book about aging. I'm already on the 3rd chapter."
"What were the first two chapters about?"
"I forgot them. Say Norma, what have you been doing all of these
years?"
"Two marriages. The first one was the poor one. Then I divorced the poor
one for Olaf. He was the rich one. Then he conveniently died and left me
his art forgery business and Tiffany lamp collection."
"Then you're all alone in the world, Norma?"
"Depends on what cruise ship you're on."
"Norma, after all these years, could I ask you to dance? Of course, you'll
have to lead."
"Tell you what you should do...keep circulating, keep circulating, just
like
the guide says (Bill)."
