S. Blanche McFayden Gonglewski, class of 1945, is no longer with us. Regretfully, she passed away this past summer. We were once engaged to her daughter, Kate, and became very close to Blance and Zigmund, her husband. What wonderful folks! Zigmund passed away two years ago. If anyone knows how we may get ahold of the Gonglewski Son's or Daughters to contact ...that would be helpful. I've lost contact with the family. James G. Emerich Now living in Texas 972 539-2140

Hi everyone, It is so nice to get in touch with people I haven't seen in years. I graduated in Jan. l958. Moved to Il. in l969, married to Hank Snyder. We have 4 daughters, 5grandchildren and 1great. Currently I work for our Newspaper, and write short stories, as a freelance writer. There's lots of corn and soybeans around here as well as cattle and hog farms. We are close to Hannibal , Mo. and also near the Iowa border, so although we come from a small town, we are close to bigger areas with more activities. My brother is David Messineo, he has a photo of himself on the Web. when he was a dear little boy...... Would enjoy hearing from anyone who wants to email me. Looking foward to Nov. 2004 reunion in Sebastian ,Fla. P.S. anyone in the Missouri area? Gloria Messineo Snyder.

Kearny or Kearney ??? Kearny, NJ is named for Gen. Philip Kearny who built and resided in "Belle Grove" which Kearnyites know as Kearny Castle. Kearney, Nebraska derives it's name from Fort Kearny which was named for Gen. Stephen Watts Kearny (The name source for Watts St. in Kearny, NJ ?). Gen. S.W. Kearny, born in Newark, NJ, was the Uncle of Gen. Philip Kearny. Their names were both spelled Kearny and everything named for them should be spelled Kearny. Enter the Federal Government ............... Like all good things which originate from the federal government, a postal error was made and an "e" was inadvertently added to Kearny, NE. For whatever reason (probably Uncle could not admit a mistake) the error was never corrected thus giving all future generations a Kearny/Kearney complex.

Here's a question that perhaps someone can give me a definite answer to (for once and for all). In the recent photo's that Steve Saviello sent there's a picture of Kearny Castle. The photo says it's "Kearney Castle" with an "E". I was always told that Kearny was spelled without an "E" in it's name. So, what's the REAL spelling of the town of Kearny. If it's without an "E" where did the "E" come from? And if it is without the "E", why do I always see pictures with the "E" in it's name?

I agree with Ena Ruddick, also class Jan 1950 as well as Lincoln and Emerson Schools. Remember the world map we drew & painted in Miss McGraw's 4th grade class? I frequently think how lucky we were to have had our childhood and teen years during the era that we did.

Always happy to view this website and read the entries. Kearny will always be home to me. I remember the Argyle Fish and Chips and walking the avenue with my friends munching on a 20 cent cone of home made french fries soaked in malt vineger and salt. The memorial day parades with the bikes draped with red, white, and blue crepe paper strips. The big bon fire at the oval in the fall, and the victory dances. The Bright Spot and Eagan's and the Kearny Kardinal, and even the Crystal Palace. I remember my Kearny jacket and how I loved wearing it. I remember wearing those hot pink or lime green jackets in the summer time and dog collars on either your left ankle or right signifing if you were steading dating or not. Those certainly were the days.

my husband's aunt claire rowlands told me about your web site. i lived in kearny for 35 years before moving to ogdensburg in 1995. i have nothing but the fondest and most happiest memories of kearny and consider myself lucky to have grown up there. times change and people move on. i hope someday ogdensburg will give my children the same happy memories i have had of kearny. my mother audrey kluge would have been the class of 54 i believe, im going to have her take a look at your site i think she will see some familar faces. diane zeoli-macmillan
