year book from KHS. If anyone has a relative who graduated

I have just finished going thru parts of this

Dukes Street area. I am going to the Re-union Luncheon which
is being held in Spring Lake NJ on October 17. I plan to go up
on 10/15, will make my usual trip to Kearny and see how much
has changed. I have found 2 places down here where I can get a

Great site at a time when life is more
retrospect than prospect. Tony Scharpnick's name brought back
memories. I did a profile on him - starting guard for the
football team - for the school newspaper in the fall of 1948.
It was my first published writing. I still recall interviewing
him in the lunch room. He was a bit skeptical about what I was
up to, but he enjoyed the article when it appeared (with a
picture of him). RIP, Tony. |

Let me add this: The '47 football team picture
is in the lobby enclosure at Washington School. We beat
Lincoln for the championship that year and some of those in
the photo are, Jim Gibson, coach and psy ed teacher, Bob
Banick and Archie Pollack. We had out 50th reunion in 10/01 in
the shore area. About 68 grads attended in a total of over
100. Priceless!! |

Schuyler School around '39... Franklin School through 6th
grade... Washington School, 2 and 1/2 years [yeah, I lagged a
bit!]... KHS '47 to '51. Greatest time in my life. Made the

I have just moved back to North Jersey for the
first time since graduation from KHS. I have happily come in
contact with many former friends. I was at the 40th reunion of
the January/June class of 1960. I moved to the area in
February 2002 to take a job at Morristown Memorial Hospital in
Morristown, NJ. I am happy to have found old friends. I am
unhappy to have heard about the recent deaths of classmates.
My old friend, Rich Moorehead, keeps me abreast of the goings
on. I hope to continue finding old friends and classmates.
